Capstone Product #2 Workshop:

For my second product, I wanted to talk directly to members of my Watkinson community and discuss the topics of my research with other people so they could introduce their perspectives on this issue and hopefully learn some more about something they didn't know about.

Here is the final incarnation of the whiteboard I used to record the conversation.

This is another photo of the conversations that went on, where we explored avenues of my topic and areas I needed to put more focus on. For example, when I started explaining my research, the first question I asked was, "What do you mean by finance?" This is an awesome question because I was stretching the idea of finance in my description to include other capital forces that could otherwise be considered beyond the definition of finance. Another avenue that we explored, which I had focused on less in my research, was the post-colonial angle; in my research, I had pretty intentionally taken the factors that lead to the current state of global poverty as a given to focus more on what has and hasn't worked in the recent past but exploring the post-colonial angle does help expand my understanding as well as actively expand the audiences. This was a great opportunity for me because once you obtain information, it's such a waste to just hold on to it. We need to engage in discussion with others to understand it, and I think this was helpful for me and hopefully the audience.
